Job Description *Part-time and Full-time position available Role
Overview: As a Patient Registration Specialist, you'll be tasked
with gathering and verifying essential patient details, such as
contact information and insurance coverage. You'll assign
appropriate patient identifiers to ensure accurate medical billing
and record-keeping. Work Schedule: This is a part-time role with
flexible hours. It includes working three weekends each month, 1–2
weekday shifts weekly, and rotating holiday coverage. Work hours
may shift based on operational demands and patient volume. Primary
Responsibilities: Collect and confirm patient information and
insurance coverage from various sources, including face-to-face
interactions and department communications. Ensure proper
completion of consent forms and required documentation. Handle
pre-authorizations, referrals, or necessary deposits before
services are rendered. Input data into registration systems,
including documenting any pending or incomplete entries. Advise
patients and their families regarding insurance issues, required
payments, and coverage details. Confirm that physician orders
include all required elements. Stay compliant with Medicare
regulations and complete related forms when applicable. Remain
informed of relevant federal, state, and local healthcare insurance
regulations. Operate and maintain accuracy across multiple digital
platforms. Deliver professional and courteous service to patients,
resolving concerns or escalating as needed. Manage incoming calls
using standard scripts and protocols. Complete daily
responsibilities efficiently and follow all workplace safety
guidelines. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent is
required. 0–1 year of relevant work experience in a healthcare or
high-volume customer service environment is acceptable. Volunteer
roles are also considered. BLS certification through the American
Heart Association must be current or obtained within 90 days of
hire. Must complete workplace safety and de-escalation training
within the first month of employment. Preferred Skills &
Experience: Prior experience with emergency department patient
intake. Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute. Proficiency
with Microsoft Office and other data systems. Familiarity with
medical vocabulary. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and
communication skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and
composure in fast-paced or high-stress situations. Adept at
handling complaints and resolving issues respectfully. Professional
appearance and conduct are essential.
