ADEX Healthcare Staffing LLC is seeking a travel nurse RN Telemetry Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Bakersfield, California. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Telemetry - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/02/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: RN - Tele Job Details: • Work 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM • Night shift position with every other weekend or equivalent of 4 weekend days in a 4-week schedule • First to float among tele staff • Patient ratio of 4:1 on a 30-bed telemetry stroke unit • Very fast-paced environment with high patient turnover and high acuity/high risk patients • Similar to stepdown unit environment • Float to med/surg, other tele unit (4W), and potentially ICU with appropriate orientation • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (must have experience using NIHSS on the floor) • Chemo certification preferred but not required • Work with Spacelabs telemetry monitoring system with 24/7 monitor techs • Interpret own telemetry strips and set alarm rates • Navy blue scrubs required (including jackets and undershirts must be navy, white, or black) • Unit orientation includes 2 twelve-hour shifts on home unit plus additional ICU orientation day • Breaks include one 30-minute break (clock-out) and three 15-minute breaks per shift • Use Cerner EMR system with pagers linked to call light system • Manage patients including non-STEMI, stroke, neuro interventional radiology, carotid procedures • Titrate medications including heparin, amiodarone, and cardizem • No first-time travelers accepted • Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment Facility: This healthcare facility operates a specialized 30-bed telemetry stroke unit that functions similarly to a stepdown unit, providing high-acuity care for stroke and cardiac patients.
