Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: OR - Operating Room - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 04/13/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 10 hours, days - Employment Type: Local Contract Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) – Operating Room Location: Bakersfield, CA Department: Operating Room (OR) Contract Length: 13 Weeks (Ends July 12, 2026) Shift: 10-Hour Mid Shift (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join our Operating Room team for a 13-week assignment. The ideal candidate will have strong perioperative experience and the ability to function independently in the surgical suite. This role includes scheduled call and weekend rotations. Schedule - Shift: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM - Hours: 10-hour days, 1 position - Weekday Call: End of shift until 11 PM, at least one day per week - Weekend Call: At least one continuous weekend per 6-week schedule (Friday 6:30 AM to Monday 6:30 AM) Responsibilities - Serve as a First Assist during operative procedures - Support surgeons with retraction, suturing, and operative techniques - Provide proficient perioperative care across pre-op, intra-op, and post-op phases - Maintain patient safety and adhere to AORN standards - Collaborate with interdisciplinary OR teams - Function effectively during high-acuity and emergency scenarios Required Experience - Minimum 2 years perioperative nursing experience - At least 3 months recent experience in the RNFA specialty - Strong proficiency in circulating and scrubbing roles - Ability to take weekday and weekend call as scheduled Required Certifications - Active RN license (state of practice) – Required - Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) – Required - Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) – Required - BLS/CPR (AHA or equivalent) – Required - CRNFA Certification – Preferred - PALS / PEARS – Preferred - AORN membership – Preferred About Hanker Systems Inc Healthcare staffing at Hanker Systems Inc is focused on delivering the right talent to support quality patient care.
